George Pleios is a Professor and Head of the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He is the Director of the Social Research Laboratory in Mass Media, a board member of the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRT) in Greece, President of the Hellenic Sociological Association, and a former member of the Supervisory Board of the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF).

Additionally, he has taught in Hungary, Portugal, Cyprus, Bulgaria, China, Turkey, and Ukraine. His work has been published in the UK, USA, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, China, Australia, and Turkey.
