Ebubekir Şahin

RTÜK President

 

Born in 1974 in Çayeli, Rize, Ebubekir Şahin completed his primary education in Rize and his secondary education in Sakarya. He graduated from Gazi University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Promotion in 1995, and earned his Master’s degree in Journalism in 2002.

 


He has held management positions in various institutions, including the Ministry of Interior, the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, RTÜK, and the Prime Ministry. He served as Deputy Director General at Anadolu Agency and held positions as Deputy Undersecretary and Undersecretary at the Ministry of Family and Social Policies.

 

He was elected as a member of the Radio and Television Supreme Council in accordance with Article 35 of Law No. 6112 on the Establishment and Broadcasting Services of Radio and Television during the 8th General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on October 16, 2017.

 

After serving as a member for a while, he was elected as President of the Supreme Council on January 23, 2019. He is married and the father of Zeynep Melike and Ahmet Burak. Ebubekir Şahin is proficient in English.

 

On October 10, 2023, he was re-elected as a member of the Radio and Television Supreme Council by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and on October 18, 2023, he was elected for the fourth time as President of the Supreme Council.
